We designed our learning experiences in collaboration with industry leaders to respond directly to both current needs and possible future challenges. The programs and courses are constantly improved upon and updated in our Concept Design Seminars.
By using a set of methodology that focuses on the why as much as the how and the what, on team collaboration instead of individual effort, we challenge participants to grow personally and professionally. We introduce new ways of thinking and learning for participants to develop themselves into lifelong learners.

The Hyper Island story
The year was 1994, and multimedia (yes that was the buzzword then) pioneers Lars Lundh, Jonathan Briggs, and David Erixon convened in a bar in Stockholm to discuss an upcoming CD-ROM project.
Life, in all its mystery and magic, had other plans for Lars, Jonathan and David that night. Together they discovered a couple of insights. They agreed the age of digital was surely upon us. And that secondly, because of that organizations are going to need to evolve accordingly to that impending change in order to survive.
How can individuals and companies stay ahead of the curve when the traditional way of learning felt dated and mismatched with the pace and needs of the real world.
That’s when they saw the opportunity to build a new institution of professional learning designed based on flexibility in anticipating and dealing with change.
They envisioned a place for lifelong learning that would value personal and professional development as equally important.
This would be a place that inspires creativity and innovation by challenging participants to practice experiential learning: to question, reflect deeply and explore different approaches to solving challenges.
Soon after that night, Lars stumbled upon a former military prison while visiting the island of Stumholmen, just off the idyllic coast of Karlskrona in southeastern Sweden. He knew almost immediately that it was the perfect location to launch their idea. A place unorthodoxically fitting to bring their vision to life.
With that, Hyper Island was born, named in part “Hyper” was a popular coding term. Its prison doors officially opened in 1996 and its first batch of students streamed in soon after. The irony was not lost that the students would discuss, study and explore the seemingly boundaryless digital world while sitting within the confined walls of prison cells.
It has been over 15 years since that night. Hyper Island has been on quite a journey. CD-ROMS, among many other things are obsolete now. Trends have come and gone, and digital has completely transformed the way our society functions.
Today Hyper Island has a global presence and is renowned in the industry as one of the top digital institutions, with a lively community of an eclectic mix of talents and experienced professionals coming from all corners of the earth.
While we have come a little further now our vision remains true as before - to design immersive learning experiences for students and industry professionals, with the aim of developing our participants into lifelong learners.
Hyper Island’s mission is distilled into two main areas of focus.
1) Educational programs and courses to immerse young talents and industry professionals in intensive learning experiences from digital strategy, e-Commerce and data strategy to art direction and through self leadership and reflection.
2) Business Innovation consulting to boost understanding of how digital changes societies and consumer behavior -- and support organizations in the change process of staying or becoming creative and competitive in an increasingly digitized world.
Hyper Island has gone global, with learning hubs from Stockholm to Singapore, Manchester to New York City. Our learning design teams travel around the world meeting and talking to executives from Fortune 500 companies and startups alike, designing tailor made experiences that look to solve their specific needs and challenges.
As the digital world continue to shift and evolve, Hyper Island as a learning organization continues to keep its pulse on the digital landscape, building and improving new ways to learn, reflect, collaborate and develop new methodologies.
