At LovedBy Design we want to improve society by making people’s lives better, simpler and smarter through design, data and technology.   We’re currently looking for a Design Researcher to join us as at LovedBy Design in Manchester. 

This is a great opportunity for someone who is genuinely excited by being an integral part of a team working across multiple projects that span product and service.   You will join a team of researchers, and work with strategists, data scientists, experience designers, developers and more across office locations and remote working locations to ensure projects are delivered successfully and on-time. The majority of work is based out of the Manchester studio, however, we believe we have to get out of the building to solve problems, and that design is a team sport, so this means our work can take us around the globe. For that reason, you should be happy, where necessary, to spend time out of the country (this can be from two days to two weeks).   

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Conduct research activities to better understand who we are designing for. Champion their needs, attitudes and behaviours. Delve deeper into the reasons why?!  
  • Always have an eye on the future. A keen interest in trends affecting our technology, services and society.
  • Identify key research questions, ready to implement in stakeholder and user interviews Gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative research Introduce assets (visual, models, presentations, etc) which communicate research findings in a clear, concise format
  • Collaborate with the wider LovedBy Design team to share insights and findings which will impact design decisions which will be implemented into projects     


  • Degree in Design, Psychology, Sociology, Human-computer interaction or related fields or equivalent practical experience 
  • 3+ years of experience conducting research in design environment 
  • Deep understanding of human-centred design and psychology  
  • Demonstrable experience of applying both qualitative and quantitative research methods, conducting user interviews, prototype testing, surveys 
  • Exceptional analytical skills Ability to translate research findings into relevant insights and communicate them effectively to designers and other stakeholders 

Nice to haves 

Experience conducting market research and competitive landscape analysis 

Knowledge and experience with statistical methods and advanced quantitative analysis tools (SQL, Python, or R)
