Do you offer housing?
No, we don't.
The application deadline for each program is different. For our programs in Sweden starting in August; Nordic students must apply by April 14th for a subsidized seat. We have ongoing admissions for the non-subsidized seats, which are typically for non-Nordic students. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible as student visa processing times must be taken into consideration.
Do you offer any distance learning programs?
No we do not, our Digital Media Management Part-time MA in UK and Singapore are not distance learning programs.
How much does it cost?
The program fee differs between programs. Read more about the different programs here.
Do you have any scholarships?
Currently we don't offer any scholarships.
Is it possible to work while studying at Hyper Island?
Our full-time programs are designed with the industry in mind. We expect our students to be at Hyper Island for 40 hours a week. So juggling a job at the same time isn’t really possible.
Our part-time programs, however, are actually designed for working professionals and require your current employer to approve your participation in the program. Your learning journey will take place both at Hyper Island and at your current workplace.
Can I visit one of your learning hubs?
Absolutely! Keep an eye out for open days. Perhaps sign up to our newsletter, or Facebook and you'll get all the information.
Contact our Global Recruitment Coordinator, Linnea Fredrikson if you’re planning a visit.
Creative Task Questions
Do I need to submit a Creative Task?
Well, that depends….if you have the legal right to reside in a Nordic country (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, Denmark, or Faroe Islands) and applying for a program in Sweden then you DO need to submit a Creative Task.
If you’re a non-nordic applicant applying to a program in Sweden, then NO you DO NOT need to submit your Creative Task. However, we ask you to upload your portfolio or work samples. In the event you cannot provide us with a portfolio, then we’ll ask you to answer the brief.
Where do I find this year’s Creative Task?
This year’s Creative Task can be found here:
In what format do you prefer I submit my Creative Task?
No preference as long as you can submit it digitally, it’s within our size limits (5mb), and we can review it in under 5 minutes.
What criteria will my Creative Task be assessed upon?
1.) Innovation & Feasibility and Originality
2.) Presentation and Effective Communication
For some programs we may have additional assessment criteria. If so, we will communicate this directly with you.
I’m not sure if my Creative Task is good enough…
Not really a question...but definitely a concern. Just take a deep breath! Go for a walk to clear your head, and if you’re still doubting yourself; get some feedback from a friend or from one of our students on the Creative Task Support Facebook Group.
What if I don’t have any creative skills?
We try to see the potential in everyone. Plus, skills can always be learned! Break down your idea, and try to figure out the best way to communicate it. Whether in a film, an infographic, or even a poem; we’re open to it all!
I’m not sure I’m on the right track; can I get some feedback on my Creative Task?
Feedback is a gift! Ask a friend or share your question on the Creative Task Support Group Page for input. Also, check out some of the examples of creative tasks submitted in the past two years. You can also find creative tasks on YouTube and Vimeo over the years. This might help you identify the approach you’d like to take!
