We're throwing a Data Hack Fest
We want to push the boundaries of what can be done with data. We’re bringing together one massive group of smart and creative brains to spend one big day playing and building with data. The goal is simple: using the skills in the room and open sources of data as the tools, everyone builds something by the end of the day.
Build what? Virtually anything that shows what open data can do. A visualization? An app? A game? Here are a few past examples we love:
— Dog park finder combines user-generated and municipal data to show the most dog-friendly parks in the city on google maps.
— Fix my street allows citizens to digitally document broken infrastructure in their neighborhoods, helping the city gather information about what needs fixing.
Who is it for? Hyper Island students, diverse as they come - plus a few others. No code or hack experience needed. Are you a strategist, programmer, creative, or entrepreneur - or maybe a librarian, firefighter or chef? Drop us a line, anyone can join. Expect a day of playful experimentation and curious exploration. We’ll get our hands dirty in deep piles of data, code and design - challenging each other to create, make and build for the future.
When is it? Thursday September 6th, main event 10:00 - 18:00. Public showcase + mingle from 18:00.
Want to participate? If you’d like to join us for the all-day event, please RSVP. Oh, and it's free.
Come for the showcase! From 18:00 onwards we’d like to invite the public to join us to showcase the creations and have a drink. All welcome, RSVP.
Where is it? Tvålpalatset, Mariatorget
